The U.S. unemployment rate is officially at 9.7%. That is a drop from the 10% peak it reached in November and December of 2009. There are millions of people who are out of work. In fact, over 7.2 million jobs have been lost during the great recession. Where is FDR when you need him?
Unfortunately, he is long gone. And president Obama is no FDR. The TARP program is no New Deal. That program only benefits Wall Street and the auto industry. The rest of Americans have had to fend for themselves, many ending up in so-called “tent cities” and “tent subdivisions”.
It shouldn’t be this way. The good news is that today it is now possible to file unemployment online. These unemployment benefits are your right. They are a social safety net for people who have lost their jobs. They are there for the taking. But you have to apply for them. If one loses their job, unemployment benefits are not simply going to fall out of the sky.
But as we have said, it is now possible to file unemployment online. In this way, the hard-working taxpayers of our great nation have access to the quickest method for applying for and receiving unemployment benefits. No longer is it necessary to haul it down to nearest unemployment office. No telling where that might even be. Do those offices even still exist today? No longer is it necessary to get out of bed at some god forsaken hour like the crack of noon. No longer is it necessary to drive down to the unemployment office in the pouring sunshine.
Now, we can all file unemployment online and fast track our benefits approval process. These unemployment benefits help us in the time that we are in between jobs and looking for our next big opportunity.

unemployment is handled by the individual states — try your state’s website. if you work in one state but live in another, i believe you apply for unemployment where you worked [the employer paid the tax where the job is, not where you live].
