If An Employee Has Mandatory Overtime And It Is Cut, Does He Qualify For Unemployment Compensation ?

I have been working a 44 hour week. This has been in effect for a year. Now my boss tells me that they have to cut hours. None of the other managers are getting their hours cut, only me. Do I qualify for unemployment compensation for the loss to my paycheck ?

  1. nope..but start looking for a new job. Getting the cut when no one else is seems to be a way of them telling you hit the road jack.

  2. Although specific eligibility requirements vary from state to state, most states have the same basic standards for collecting unemployment benefits. They include:
-You must be unemployed or working less than full time
-You must meet certain income requirements
-You must be ready, willing, and able to work
-You must have involuntarily left your job
In general, you won’t be eligible for benefits if:
-You quit your job simply because you didn’t like it
-You’re fired for committing a crime (e.g., stealing)
    -You’ve never worked before
In your situation, it seems to be qualified, but I’d recommend you to go ahead and call your local unemployment office, and get a clear answer.

  3. Maybe. Most states have a percentage drop required to trigger partial unemployment benefits. What you describe is about a 15% cut which would not do it in my state.

  4. no. unemployment never covers overtime, mandatory or not

  5. fort u have to be kidding..be thankfull you have a job…shhhhhh dont rock the boat

  6. no. maybe if you are officially part time.
