Does Anyone Know What Vermont Unemployment Takes Out For Federal And State Taxes? Is It A %? Or What?

i am currently on unemployment, and i want to file my tax returns ASAP. but i need the paperwork from unemployment stating how much taxes they took out for federal and state. i have the amount they gave me for this past year, but not the amount im eligable to be getting back. I hope thats not too confusing. But if anyone knows any wibes sites or #’s that would give me a chance of finding this out ASAP that would be very appreciated!

  1. Maybe I’m mistaken, but whatever tax forms they send is what you have to put on the tax forms. I use one of the online tax preparer links that is on the IRS.gov website and then pay the filing fee. The programs do the work for you, you just enter and doublecheck numbers have been typed correctly. I’ve found it makes things much easier with my self-employment/contractor info and my husband’s brief unemployment paychecks for when his company bumps all employees to 32 hour work weeks to save money.
Otherwise, Google Vermont Tax Dept. and the links will come up.

  2. It’s not a flat amount. You probably had an option of what if anything was taken out. Wait for the 1099G form, it will tell you the amounts.
